Products» Odor Control Systems»Vertical Chemical Scrubbers(VCS) The VCS is the most prevalent technique for bringing  gaseous contaminant into an intimate contact with a  chemical solution that reacts with the latter gases and  drastically reduces the targeted air pollutants.  The air moves upward and the chemical solution is  flowing downward through a packing media which  provides an optimum contact media for the transfer of  the pollutants from the gaseous phase into the liquid  phase. The liquid solution contains a dissolved  chemical that for most application reacts  spontaneously with the gas while is being dissolved  into the liquid phase. For instance, if the pollutant gas  is acidic then a basic solution is suitable or if a basic  gas is present then an acidic solution will be effective.   Copyright © Amerair International 2008
A recirculating liquid system is common for supplying a constant flow of liquid feed at top of the tower. Peripheral  control instruments and control facilitate an automatic control of the scrubber operation. The gaseous phase is either  pushed or pulled through the packing media by a fan.  VCS are very versatile in application and performance and can achieve extremely high removal efficiencies as high  as 99.9% in a single vessel while handling inlet gaseous concentrations from a few ppm to very high percentages!  Multiple stage VCS can achieve removal efficiencies exceeding 99.999% and yield outlet concentrations that are  virtually undetectable  Air Pollution Control & Monitoring
